I'm looking at buying the new Macbook Pro 17" 3.06Ghz Core Duo - this machine now supports 8Gb Ram (of course the Apple Store want your first born child for that much memory). Problem is I don't see any kits here which could be used in the new MacBooks - are they available ?

Hi there,
I bought a MacBook Pro 17 3.06 GHz that arrived last week. I've tried not one but two 8 Gb upgrade kits from Crucial, kits especially for this top-end machine. Unfortunately, neither have worked out (hard machine crashes within 30 seconds to two minutes of operation after booting). Returning to the original Apple 4 Gb RAM fixes the problem.
I'm still looking for a solution.
Good luck!
Tim

Unfortunately we are not able to price match, due to the differences in sales and inventory models between Crucial and our resellers and competitors. I apologize for any inconvenience.

This link no longer contains any reference to memory, only SSDs (not the same!)
I cannot find any reference to 8Gb kits for Macbooks .... is there a problem? Will they return?

Hi Folbo,
Unfortunately we do not currently have compatible parts for this system. However, we hope to have them available again in the near future. Please keep checking the website for any updates.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
