This program needs an update for X79, this user requested I test for him on my X79 board (GA-X79-UD3) because it was failing on his Asus X79 board.

Programs says incompatible motherboard, I've included the version info in my image for each installer module (x64 version - File last modified 2/3/2012 - 11.0.40825.2 (V. 1.2.0.0 after install))

Of course this is not with Smart Tracer memory, but I do remember it working on them before with X58 motherboards, just did not have all the info or features available.  This is a incompatiblity with the X79 chipset only.  I should also add that once the program fails, it locks the MCHBar or ACPI tables, and you can no longer read any SPD Data from the memory modules until a reboot.   Not sure if that's relevant to fixing the issue, but just in case it is I thought I should make note of it.

Can we please get an updated X79 version for your loyal users, thanks guys and gals!!

Hello folks and Crucial Team,

I bought 16GB of the Ballistix ELITE RAM.

One of the prime reason that I have selectet out this type of Memmory was to read out

temperature in real time on PCB.

Unfortunately the M.O.D. Software dos not support the Intel x79 PHC Chip on a Gigabyte Assassin 2 I have!

Where is the issue? Is it on Intels side? What takes so long to improve the software?

I m missing an official proclamation, at least in this forum!!!! I payed your Rent, dont forget!

I wrote this problem to crucial six weeks ago from now ,

I am still waiting for prommised characterristics of this product!

Meanwhile i feel **bleep** take!

Respectfully Peter

Re: Ballistix MOD (Memory Overview Display) utility FAQ, feedback and questions

Well we have all been saying this same thing.  It seems it happens to X79 Chipsets only.  First off the Program to read real time Voltages and stuff is not going to work on a X79 mother board right now.  I believe Crucial is working on that.

The Ballistix Tracers second generation memory that have the ability to show real time stats is where the problem lies.  These memory chips (I have Ballistix Smart Tracers 32 GB) have their own built in memory.  This is a problem with the X79 Chipset.  On my mother board i have a Asus Rampage 4 Extreme.  If I have the Smart Tracers in the board starts ok but if I go to restart there in lies the problem.  the memory on the Smart DIMM's  locks up from what I understand is a mismatch of what the DIMM remembered it's last settings were and the X79 chipset.  My motherboard totally locks up.  I have to shut off the PC and restart it totally going into the bios and everything.

Right now I have Crucial's first generation ballistix in that just flash random patterns based on the load on the memory.  But even this will from time to time cause a problem and cause the Bios to pop up and say something is wrong with the Over clocking (which I am not over clocking them do to problems with the memory and board)

Re: Ballistix MOD (Memory Overview Display) utility FAQ, feedback and questions

Now these new Memory chips being available June 1 About.  I have questions on them.

1) are they going to be able to work on motherboards with the X79 chipset?

2) Do they have LED's in them like the Smart Tracers do?

3) if these new ones are workable on the X79 platform will you be still working on fixing the Smart Tracers or will you be taking the Smart Tracers back in exchange for the new memory that will work (if it can work on the X79 Platform)?

4) Are there LED versions in the makings if these new ones are not LED versions or what are the difference in styles of them.

I kind of built my Rig around the memory and liked the orange and Blue LED's in my 32 GB memory.  I searched high and low for them and got them just to be disappoonted.  I would gladly keep them if you guys can make them work.  But right now they are just dust collectors.

Re: Ballistix MOD (Memory Overview Display) utility FAQ, feedback and questions

Hey Guys,

Just recieved my 8Gb of Crucial Ballistix Ram. Now first of all I must mention that I live in New Zealand and bought my memory off Amazon since you can't get any good parts in NZ :/

I love modding and will go to great lengths to accuire the best looking and performing parts! As a avid Crucial supporter (Had plenty of Ballistix Ram in the past) and currently running 2 Crucial SSD'd coming across these was a feast for the eyes!

I've waited almost a month to recieve my goodies only to find that in the MOD utility i can change everything EXEPT the way the lights move (pattern)

Am I doing something wrong (I just know i'll get a duuuu moment when I get told what to do Smiley Tongue) but otherwise these guys are running super!

Oh, side note: i've got the RB kit, one of my modules lights seems a bit dimm, like it's almost on it's last legs...poor parts used? I've switched it over banks but still same result (this is on the blue color - since my box theme is Blue).

On orange/red they work fine?

Cheers!

Re: Ballistix MOD (Memory Overview Display) utility FAQ, feedback and questions

Hi guys, just bought some Smart Tracers (R/G & O/B) and been using MOD.  Previously had 'dumb' DDR2 tracers that I loved, and these are great too.

MOD light control is real nice - but I'd like more patterns.  And ideally a way to create my own.  Could be as simple as basic pattern-based music sequencers - just a bunch of boxes that you tick to set which light(s) to enable at each time step.  And an overall speed control.

Is this possible?  Are the patterns hard-coded into the modules, or can they be programmed from MOD?

Even better if the colours could be changed on a per-LED basis (is that possible?.

I specialise in these types of lighting effects, in an ideal world the brightness could also be programmed - for example, have all the LED at half-brightness instead of completely off (and then light up at full brightness according to the pattern).

Would be happy to beta test any new lighting features.

Re: Ballistix MOD (Memory Overview Display) utility FAQ, feedback and questions

I have a question that I am wondering if you could help me out with. The Ballistix MOD utility is a way cool app but i can't get it to work on my machine. When i click the executable, it says scanning modules and then halfway through this process i get an error that says, "Motherboard Not Compatible". I have read through these forums a bit and have seen where folks are posting their specs and the moderators were passing it on to the technicians. Following suit,

Here is a run down of my machine. It is self built.

EVGA Classified SR-2 motherboard, bios ver. A56.

2 Intel Xeon 5606 2.13 GHz CPU's (Nahalen Core)

6 X 2 gig Crucial Ballistix Elite modules Part # (BLE2G3D1869DE1TXO)

2 EVGA GeForce 550Ti (2 Gig RAM per Card)

Corsair AX750 power supply.

120 Gig Corsair Force 3 Solid state drive (system Disk)

1TB Seagate Baracuda (Application Disk)

Windows 7 Pro 64bit ( 7.8 windows Experience Score )

Re: Ballistix MOD (Memory Overview Display) utility FAQ, feedback and questions

The mod utility program continuously crash on my system. It worked before, so my motherboard 100% sure compatible. The problem was started when i installed the win7 64bit system, if i remember well.

I tried uninstalling, and tried to start the system in safe mode with x64 and x86 verision, but if i start the application is intantly crash.

Is there any solution?
