I bought 2 sets of BLT2C4G3D1608ET3LX0CEU (Ballistix Tactical VLP 1600 CL8 2x4GB) to get a performance boost for my PC. After 5 days of experimenting I concluded that 8-8-8-24-32 2T@1600 would not function. It's unstable.
CPU PhenomII 955
MOBO MSI 760GM-E51 with bios 1.A (latest)
PSU Corsair TX750M
GFX Asus Radeon HD6870
When timings are set to 9-9-9-27-33 2T@1600 it is rock stable but are the same settings as they were for the DIMM's they replace. I am disappointed because your Crucial Memory Advisor™ tool made be believe it would be compatible.
Therefore I kindly ask your advise how to make the BLT2C4G3D1608ET3LX0CEU run at 8-8-8-24-32@1600
Hi xelliance, I would suggest that you probably contact the Crucial support department if you want to speak to them directly. The support forums may get you some answers but not necessarily from anyone working for Crucial.
That said, I think I should point out that the RAM will run at the timings that are permitted by the overall settings and hardware around it. The CPU, motherboard, power supply, etc. will all play a part.
When you do contact Crucial support I recommend you give them a complete rundown of your system as well as special notes such as whether or not it's overclocked, is it a "Build It Yourself" and if not who's the manufacturer, etc. Hope that helps. Rich
PS I have the same RAM, (my system specs are in my signature), and when I run it at 1600 MHz, (every day use), I set my times 8-8-8-21-1T. And when I want to pick it up a little I run at 1865 MHz and the timing is: 8-9-8-22-1T. Case in point, it won't have any trouble doing that but the hardware needs to support it.
