Crucial MX300 1TB SATA and Windows 10 Update not longer working after cloning

So I have installed an MX300 SSD after cloning a Windows 10 install

Windows Update no longer works as the error is reprting issues with the IDE/SATA device controller

has anybody else had this issue?

It's caused by ancient sata controller drivers supplied by your computers manufacturer.  Remove it in favour of the one built into Windows via Device manager or update it to a more recent version from your chipset manufacturer.

For Intel based systems, you can get that here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/55005

The latest versions may not install on older hardware so you may need to try older versions depending upon your hardware.
