Re: Crucial Storage Executive and msecli error

Another post on these forums mentions a problem running CSE v3.55  with Win10 v1803 which results in a Java error.  The user said the ealier version of CSE v3.50 worked fine.

Try uninstalling, rebooting, and then reinstalling CSE.   Check that Java is up to date.  Perhaps make sure Windows is up to date.   If you have an earlier installer for CSE, I would try it after uninstalling CSE first.

Let us know if any of this solves your problem.

Re: Crucial Storage Executive and msecli error

Thanks for the tip. But still doesn't work. Please help.

I updated to latest Java. Latest Windows 10. Uninstall Storage Executive. Rebooted. Reinstall v3.50. Still doesn't work.

mseapiLogFile.txt

:ERROR: SendSCSICommand: ScsiPassThroughDirect failed, Error - 1

What is causing the above error ???

Re: Crucial Storage Executive and msecli error

v3.50 never worked for me.  So I'm not surprised it still didn't work.

Re: Crucial Storage Executive and msecli error

Assuming the app is working, the SCSI error could be caused by drivers or perhaps a RAID controller or external drive controller.

The second error appears to be a software issue.  You should contact Crucial Support directly via online chat or e-mail to let them know about the issue and submit your system information and logs to them.

If you are trying to check the SMART attributes, you could install the command line smartmontools package or  GSmartControl if you prefer a GUI (at least until CSE issue is resolved).   These may not correctly show the attributes for the MX500 yet.  A lot of people like Crystal Disk Info.

Re: Crucial Storage Executive and msecli error

I'm NOT using it to get SMART info.

I have 5 m.2 Sata SSD that are overprovision.  I want to undo the overprovision. If you know another free tool that can do that, please let me know.   thanks.

Re: Crucial Storage Executive and msecli error

As far as I know, only Crucials tools can do that.

Re: Crucial Storage Executive and msecli error

Please let us know what is the version of storage driver you are using (you can check it with Device manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers (or Storage Controllers) -> right click on the selected controller -> Properties -> Driver tab) and what is the exact model of your motherboard.
