It only worked when you burnt the image onto a CD huh? Guess I'll try that too, since nothing else did anything for me.

Re: Feedback Thread: Firmware MU02 for MX100

I had to order a longer SATA cable to reach my drive in my mid-tower case.. I already have 7 drives in this one.

i just worry about laptop users without dvd-r drives and other users with cases without 5.25" bays, how are they supposed to install this update?

Re: Feedback Thread: Firmware MU02 for MX100

Hi all,

is this freezing, BSOD and dead drive issue fixed by the MU02 firmware?

Reading couple of pages I am not so sure.

Lately I am having the problem every day and it starts to **** me of.

With previous M4, I have never had such a problems.

Thanks

Re: Feedback Thread: Firmware MU02 for MX100

I'm wondering if Intel Rapid STorage technology can be causing some of these problems ?

I'm just learning about all this ssd stuff, but Noticed I have Intel rst installed and my

ssd is listed in device manager as crucial ct512mx100ssd1 scsi disk device ....

I have ahci enabled in bios, and in divice manager under

ide ata/atapi controllers >

intel 9 series chipset family sataahci controller....

I've had about 6 event id 129 errors pointing to iastora

any comments ? help or advice about Intel rst being installed with window 7

and crucial ssd ?

thanks in advance

As far as I can remember it seems it fixed the issue for some users so if you are still on MU01 it may be worthwhile to update to MU02 I believe.

Possibly improper/malfunctioning driver can. On some systems some SSDs (not necessarly from Crucial) work better with Microsoft's MSAHCI or StorAHCI drivers.

Personally I have only good experience with Intel RST drivers and Crucial drives. They all work well for me for all drives, M4, M500, M550 and MX200. From 11.1.0.1006 on M4 equipped desktop and 11.2.0.1006 on old 9-year-old notebook, through 11.7.0.1013 on few-year-old notebooks and 12.8.0.1016 on one-year-old notebook to 13.1.0.1058 on newest desktop.

From your posts history it seems that after you installed fireware MU02 your lockups and shutdown problems were gone. Do you see them again? I wouldn't focus on event viewer entries in case the system itself works well and with no freezes.

Re: Feedback Thread: Firmware MU02 for MX100

hey bogdan, well , they lockups were gone when I updated the firmware

for about 14 days , and now had 2 shutdown freezes in the past day...

Iooking at storage executive I've had 10 unexpected error events since

may 1, brand new pc , new fresh install, was having shutdown freezes

daily until I upgraded to firmware mu02, then no problems for about

14days and now it's back again....

About ready to go back to mechanical hd and re-install windows...

Hi Joenc,

I am sorry to hear about your issues. It is a little bit odd that you have had no issues for 2 weeks and they are back now. Have you change anything in your system recently?

If you want you can post SMART data of your drive that we could take a look at it for you.
With CrystalDiskInfo use 'Edit > Copy' option, just please remove drive's serial number.

I think I would try to troubleshoot it with following steps (not necessarily all at once):

1. Check for BIOS update

2. Enable 'Hot plug' option in BIOS for the port the SSD is connected to, it helps sometimes

3. Set windows power plan to 'High performance'

4. Make sure you have installed drivers and fixes from your motherboard download page. I have few systems with Gigabyte motherboards and they work very well with SSDs (M4, M500, MX200 and one more from other producer). On all those systems I have installed all stock drivers suggested by Gigabyte.
