Installing an MX300 SSD as a secondary non-boot drive in a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop

[ Edited ]

Just bought this machine a couple of weeks ago. It came with a 256 GB SSD, and had an empty 2.5" bay where I installed the MX300, using the SATA cable already installed in the computer. Windows does not recognize this drive. When I go to File Explorer, it only shows me the boot drive (C:\).  It's probably a configuration issue, but I was unable to get a solution from Dell. Has anyone run across this or a similar issue? I can see the drive in the system BIOS, but I am unsure how to configure.

To activate a new secondary drive in Windows you need to go to control panel -> administrative tools -> computer management -> disk management

and then initialise and format the drive.
