MX200 transfers slow down

Hi

I have crucial mx200 250 GB SSD disk.

Problem is when disk is write over 50 % of space. Transfers  slow down a lot.

Test 02.pngTest 03.pngCrystal Disk Info.png

First photo when 15 % space is write. Second photo when 65 % space is write - transfers are horrible.

I don t know what to do?

AHCI is enabled, firmware on the disk i updated and nothing change.

Disk connected to SATA 3. Bios on the motherboard newest too.

When I connected disk to other computer transfers was very slow too when was write over 50 %.

Does disk should go to warranty? Or do i can do something now?

Thanks fo help

Re: MX200 transfers slow down

In my humble opinion the speeds from second screenshot are terrible. The drive shouldn't slow down to this level in any circumstances.

The SMART data of the drive looks good to me so I wonder if there may be some kind of SSD firmware glitch that causes these terrible speed drops in benchmark. Do you see similar speed drops during normal OS usage or or do you see them in benchmarks only?

I would probably check if the TRIM is really working on the drive - as a precaution I guess, since I believe that even with no TRIM the drive should have better speeds. Use TRIMcheck tool for that.

You may consider ATA secure erasing the drive (or drive Sanitizing in the Crucial Storage Executive) - mind the data loss so backup your data before performing ATA secure erase or drive Sanitize. Besides erasing the data from the SSD, ATA secure erase resets the SSD to factory-like state which sometimes can possibly fix some weird problems.

I've also never seen anything like that.  The second screenshot looks like it's hooked up over USB 2!

Re: MX200 transfers slow down

Unfortunately this computer is in my home for my family, i dont have direct acces, only via team viewer.

In this case i cant do secure erase. I try to check trim status.

I checked TRIM and its work.

Secure erase or guarantee?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. The following link talks about slowness on a drive. I would advise you to perform the steps talked about in the link below.

Re: MX200 transfers slow down

@marcin2468, you can try steps suggested by @Crucial_AgentC

As for the ATA secure erase vs RMA - personally I would give ATA secure erase a try in order to avoid possibly unnecesary steps related to RMA process. Your drive uses DWA dynamic write acceleration feature that works on-the-fly and switches NAND cells (in the backround) between two modes. Some of the DWA operations may happen at about 50% full drive. Your issue is weird because it happens when the drive is over 50% full and that is why I think it may be a SSD firmware glitch of some kind.

If I would see the same speeds drop after ATA secure erase then I would go for RMA for sure.
