Can you confirm what software you used to check the SMART attributes on your SSD?  It is possible that it is not compatible with our SMART readings and that is why is showing as a different power on time.

John, I don't think this is SMART software related. I think these drives work this way.

My M550 that I am using since April, 2014, is showing this:

CrystalDiskInfo 6.1.14 (C) 2008-2014 hiyohiyo
Crystal Dew World :

OS : Windows 8.1 [6.3 Build 9600] (x64)
Date : 2017/02/07 17:08:52

Model : Crucial_CT512M550SSD1
Firmware : MU02
Serial Number : ************
Disk Size : 512,1 GB (8,4/137,4/512,1/512,1)
Power On Hours : 658 hours
Power On Count : 4191 count
Features : S.M.A.R.T., APM, 48bit LBA, NCQ, TRIM, DevSleep

As far as I can remember I can change the way the power-on hours counter works by choosing different power plan options.
