USB pen drive no more visible

After installing on my portable HP 6530b with Windows 7

an SSD CRUCIAL MX300 500GB i noticed that the USB pen drive are no more

visible to the OS. The same USB port works correctly with RS232-USB adapter

but the USB pen drive i worked before (before install the SSD) are no more visible.

Via Control Panel, the Device Management panel shows a little yellow triangle

close to the USB pen drive, but there are no way to update o recognize the device.

Thank you

Re: USB pen drive no more visible

I'm not sure if you are seeing the yellow triangle in Device Manager or in Disk Management.  If you are seeing it in Device Manager, it means you have a problem with a driver.  If you see the yellow triangle in Disk Management, then make sure you are plugging the pen drive directly into a USB port on the computer and not a keyboard or other device.  Try another USB port on the computer as well, especially a USB2 only port.   Can you try the pen drive in another computer to make sure it is still working correctly?  It is possible the pen drive has gotten corrupt and needs to be reformatted.

USB pen drives are not the most reliable devices.   I have several name brand pen drives each with different issues (one corrupts data occasionally and another won't mount on some computers).
