I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with EZ Gig, it's an unusual issue but could be down to a faulty copy of the product.
I would download it again and try the clone again, you can download EZ Gig HERE. Please let us know how it goes but a fresh copy should resolve these problems for you.

I already tried that before I reported the issue
I have tried again and no luck
I have previously used this cable and software n other PC successfully, it seem to be something related to the specific configuration
The USB device is recognised, just the C drive is mising
I have tried running for windows and booting from the CD

Is your system set to IDE or AHCI? If the SATA ports are set to RAID, even if not running in a RAID, the drives shouldn't be detected.

You would have to get into your BIOS. When you first turn on your system, you should see a logo screen that will tell you to press a key to enter setup. Press that key and it will get you into BIOS. Typically it is either F2, F10, or delete, but can vary. Once in the BIOS, you would want to look for something called SATA mode or something similar.

I have changed the setting to IDE and the drive is recognised, but the copy fails
when I attempt to copy I get literally millions or write errors.
I have tried twice withthe ssd connected to 2 different usb ports, but each time after a few hours it gets to 83% and several million write errors

Thanks for your reply.
I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with the clone. Can you possibly try moving your C drive to a different SATA port within your system? This is to just check and see if there is possibly an issue with cloning from that specific SATA port.
If this does not work, do you have access to any other cloning programs? Just to check if there is a possible compatibility issue between EZ Gig and your system.
Let us know how it goes and we can take it from there.
