I bought an iMac 27" 5K Retina (late 2015) and upgraded its 8GB memory to 32GB ( 4 x 8GB DDR3L-1866 SODIMM) from Crucial. Recently, before selling it I took out the 32GB and replaced it with the Apple-shipped 8GB.
I'm now thinking of buying an iMac 27" 5K (2017) which uses DDR4-2400 SODIMM. Would it be possible to use the 4 x 8GB DDR3L-1866 SODIMM memory I already have in this 2017 iMac model?
Any help would be appreciated.

Might have answered my own question. I could be wrong, but purely from a physical standpoint the notch on the insertion edge of a DDR3L stick appears to be more towards the left than it does on DDR4 stick. So I guess the answer is no. Would still be interested in a definitive answer if anyone has one.

@tech-otaku Thanks for your question. You are correct. You can not mix DDR3 and DDR4. They are physically different, so they are not interchangeable.
