Has anyone else had trouble upgrading to Mavricks? I ordered 16 gb of ram, CRM-9128 RevD, for my iMac, when i try to install Mavricks, it causes a Kernal Panic and ends up in a restart loop. Apple Care advised me that I may need to do a firmware update or go back to the Apple ram that came with the computer. Any thoughts or solutions would be great!

First of all I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your system.
Can you confirm what Mac system you have? Please confirm the model type, screen size and processor speed, for example.
MacBook Pro 15" 2.5GHz i5
Have you checked you have the most up to date EFI firmware from Apple? Have you tried it with just the original memory installed? Or reducing the amount of RAM installed to 8GB instead of 16GB?
Please let us know the above information and we can look in to this further for you.

It is an iMac with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor running 10.8.5 and no, I haven't done anything mainly because I'm new to ram and how to handle it

Thanks for your replies.
I have had a look in to this system and it certainly can support the 16GB, we actually recommend that this system can support up to 32GB of memory.
I would recommend trying to install the update with the lower amount of memory installed. I do however think that this is not down to a memory problem as you would be having issues out with the mavericks installation if it was memory related.
Please let us know how it goes and if you need anything else we would be more than happy to help.
