Late 2013, 27-inch iMac, 2x4GB upgrade vs 1x8GB upgrade?

Hi there,

I am looking to upgrade my iMac 27" Late 2013 to 16GB RAM total. It currently has, 2x4GB (apple factory installed) and want to add another 8GB.

Performance wise,
Should I go for 2x4GB - Crucial 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB) DDR3L-1600 SODIMM Memory for Mac
OR
Should U go for 1x8GB - Crucial 8GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM Memory for Mac

Read about Dual channel etc, and people suggesting 2x4GB, but 1x8GB gives me option to upgrade more in the future.

Thanks!

@subrat Thanks for contacting us today. I pulled up your system specs and it looks like your system does not run in dual channel. Installing a pair would have no advantage over the pair of modules.  It would be best and cheapest to install a single 8GB memory module in your system instead of two 4GB modules.  Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
