Macbook pro won't see newly installed RAM

[ Edited ]

Hello, I have a rather strange problem.

I bought (via amazon) two ct2c8g3s1339mceu 8g modules for my late 2011 mbp. I installed them and the computer works fine but even after rebooting and reseting the NVRAM the system profiler stills sees it as 2x2go.

I would have understood if it was stuck at 8gb total or if one of the module wasn't recognized but that is not the case.

My MBP is a 13" late 2011 with a 2,4ghz core i5 running Sierra (up to date).

Have you ever heard of such a problem ?

Best regards.

After further investigations, I think these are 2gb modules with a 8gp sticker slapped on them. The chips on them are Hynix and they are recognized as 0x80ad. These where sold as "repackaged" by Amazon and I think they got ripped off by someone who sent them back. I am sending them back as we speak.

I have just received a second pair of 8gb and installed them successfully. It was the consequence of someone scaming amazon.
