Only 8GB option for memory upgrade MacBook Pro early 2011

Hello,

I want to upgrade my Early 2011 15 inch MacBook Pro. I have been thinking about this for a while now and before (some months ago) crucial website used to show 16GB kit as a compatible upgrade but now it's only the 8GB kit.

Is it only because it's out of stock or is there a technical reason to it?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Only 8GB option for memory upgrade MacBook Pro early 2011

Hello Lodovanh,

Thank you for your question.  I have looked in to this further for you.  You’re 100% correct in saying that your early 2011 MacBook Pro can support 16GB of memory.

You can see all the all the parts we list as compatible on our website here: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Apple/macbook-pro-%2815-inch%2C-early-2011%29

For the specific 16GB kit, you can see that listed on the website here: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/macbook-pro-%2815-inch%2C-early-2011%29/CT3373680

We do also have an installation guide available for that specific model.  You can have a look at that on our website here: http://guides.crucial.com/Guide/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Unibody-Early-2011-RAM-Installation/437/1

Enjoy the upgrade and if you do have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
