Re: CT51264BD160BJ for Dell Optiplex 980

Hi Dominohunter,

Thanks for contacting us today. I pulled up your system information on our end and it appears that memory is not compatible with your system. Your system can not use high density memory. The part number you need instead is CT2K51264BD160B.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Is this the same for Mini Tower Optiplex 990? CT2K51264BD160B is the correct part number?

Re: CT51264BD160BJ for Dell Optiplex 980

Hi bertram_lee,

Thank you for your message.  I have looked in to that model for you and you can see all the compatible upgrades on our website here: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for//optiplex-980-mini-tower

It has 4 memory slots and can take a total of 16GB.  CT2K51264BD160B would be compatible with your model.  So if you're buying from a 3rd party, you can order CT2K51264BD160B and it will work with that model.

We also have a great support and guides section available on our website.  You can see that here: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-memory

If you do have any other questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask.
