Compatibility with kontron ktq87 flex motherboard ram ?

Hello,

I would like to know if this ram module :

Crucial 4GB DDR3L 1600 MT/s (PC3L-12800) SR UDIMM 240 pin
CT102464BD160B

Is compatible with my Kontron ktq87flex motherboard.

The specs :

The KTH81/mITX, KTQ87/mITX and KTH81/Flex have two DDR3 UDIMM sockets while the KTQ87/Flex has
four DDR3 UDIMM sockets. The sockets support the following memory features:

DDR3 1.5V/1.35V UDIMM 240-pin
Dual-channel with 1 UDIMM per channel (2 UDIMM for KTQ87/Flex)
Single/dual rank unbuffered 1333/1600MT/s (PC3-10600/PC3-12800)
The supported 4 rd Generation Core i5/i7 support 1333/1600 MT/s
From 1GB and up to 2x 8GB (4x 8GB for KTQ87/Flex).
o Note: Less than 4GB displayed in System Properties using 32bit OS
o (Shared Video Memory/PCI resources is subtracted)
SPD timings supported
The installed DDR3 DIMM should support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the
BIOS to read and configure the memory controller for optimal performance. If non-SPD memory is used, the
BIOS will attempt to configure the memory settings, but performance and reliability may be impacted.

Re: Compatibility with kontron ktq87 flex motherboard ram ?

Hello kdeuser,

Thank you for your post.  I have had a look in to this for you.  We don’t have that motherboard listed on our website.  I have checked the official datasheet for the motherboard from the Kontron website and it does support memory of that speed and type.

I feel confident that our memory will be compatible with that motherboard.  You can see that part listed on our website here: http://eu.crucial.com/eur/en/ct102464bd160b

We do have a great guides and support section on our website.  You can have a look at that here: http://eu.crucial.com/eur/en/support-memory

If you do have any other questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask and I would be happy to help.

Hello Crucial_Junket,

Many thanks for your quick reply.

I made a mistake and you corrected me on it and it is 8gb ram not 4 that was put in the post although the reference was right !

Yes, just needed clarification on the compatibilty issue.

I guess i will go ahead and buy 4 modules .

Many thanks again.

Re: Compatibility with kontron ktq87 flex motherboard ram ?

Hello again Crucial_Junket,

Would just like to clarify on installing the ram , do tthey operate at default 1600mhz speed out of the box or do i have to adjust in bios ?

I am saying this because the kontron ktq87 flex boards bios does not have xmp or a method of setting the ram to a different speed.

Many Thanks.

Hello kdeuser,

Thank you for your reply.  They will run at 1600Mhz at default so you would not have to change the settings in BIOS.

If you do have any other questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Re: Compatibility with kontron ktq87 flex motherboard ram ?

Hello again Crucial_Junket,

I went ahead and bought :

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/blt8g3d1608dt1tx0

Not exactly this version but the very low profile model a Crucial Ballistix Tactical thinking i could get better latency value but on installing the kit of 4 the speed was 1333mhz with no way of increasing speed to 1600mhz because there is no option on my motherboard.

My question is this, i can see that :

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/ct102464bd160b

Does not come in a kit with 4 sticks of ram being made from the same cut of silicon , so if i buy 4 seperate ram sticks will there be a problem with compatibility ?

If i buy 2 kits each containing ( 2 x 8gb ) ram , would this too be ok and of course they would work at there default speed of 1600mhz ?

Many thanks again for your help.
