Dell Inspiron 1545 Memory upgrade

Dear Members :

My Dell Inspiron 1545 current spec reads: 4GB Dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM

Could you please suggest max and best memory upgrade compatible ? My processor is:

Intel C2D P8700  (2.53GHz/1066 FSB/3MB Cache) in case this helps in ascertaining.

Thanks very much.

Hi atanu_banerjee.

This system can support 8GB if memory over two memory slots, you can see the compatible memory upgrades HERE

We only recommend PC2-6400 speed memory for this system so the recommended 8GB kit at the above link would be the best upgrade option for your RAM.

Did you upgrade the RAM to 8GB? I am also looking to upgrade my 3GB inspiron 1545 to 8GB. I will appreciate if any one who has done it before, may share his / her experience.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1545 Memory upgrade[with Crucial CT2KITS1264AC800 RESULT]

in reply to Crucial_Junket

Hi -

I upgraded Dell 1545 Memory with Crucial 8 GB Kit(4 GBx2) DDR2 800 MHz (PC2-6400) CL6 SODIMM 200-PIN and following is the result. I am curious to know whether this is expected, with such high latency rate ?

When I ran Crucial Memory Scan it shows: []

Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 8GB
Currently Installed Memory: 8GB
Total Memory Slots: 2
Available Memory Slots:  0

Could you plese tell, is there any mismatch between RAM modules or is this in expectation - do appreciate very much.

Thank you.
