Making Sure I Undstand...

The specs, as shown in the link below, shows I have 4GB and RAM currently. Also says I can have a maximum of 16. So if I bought an 8GB, installed it on the second slot, I should be good right?

Well it didn't work. However, by taking out the original and replacing it with the one I bought from the suggested list, it works.

Do they have to be the same size? Same brand?

@TampaStorm I am sorry for the issues you've experienced with your RAM. I did not see a photo in your link. Will you please add the photo to the post or add the details? 

 

In most cases you should be able to add 8GB to the exisiting RAM and upgrade to 12GB if you have a system max of 16GB. They don't always need to be the same size or brand. What is the make and model of the system? I would be happy to check into the details for you.

I accidentally deleted it. Sorry about that. I went ahead and ordered a second 8GB and am going to install it here shortly. Hopefully that works.
