RAM Upgrade Didn't Work HP EliteBook G3 Windows 10 Ent

Tried to upgrade RAM to 32GB using Crucial scan as reference for correct RAM upgrade. Installed both 16GB cards but started getting RAM beeps so we removed one card and it booted up fine. Switched the RAM cards thinking that it might have been a bad card but, again, booted up fine with 16GB of RAM. Then installed an 8GB card in the second slot thinking that it might have been a bad slot but laptop booted up fine with 24GB of RAM. HP says that max RAM is 32GB; Crucial says that max RAM is 32GB....how come it won't accept 32GB of RAM?

BTW, this is a dual boot setup with Debian but it shouldn't matter or, at least, I don't think it should matter.

@cgauthier I am sorry for the issues you've experienced with this system. What is the full model number of your Elitebook G3? For example is it a Elitebook 840 G3, etc?

It's all good. Needed a BIOS update from July, 2017. Once that was done, it was recognized, etc.... Thanks! chrisg
