How are files deleted from the 4gb USB Drive on a Mac OS X?
Can they simply be moved to Trash?

Yes, you can either move the files to the trash can, or highlight them and delete them. If you want to remove all the files and wipe the card completely clean, you can use the Erase function in the Disk Utility as well.
