I have an XP desktop computer and Cucial helped me with getting memory for it. It is Compaq Presario. Came with 1 G of RAM and I just got from friend in mail 2- 1G of memory to put one in empty slot. This morning when I booted it up, the desktop icons loaded but the system tray didn't. No start, Clock, etc. Not even the volume control button or my anti-virus! I did hard shut-down twice and rebooted and same thing. Finally, I had to hit F1 and F8 and choose "last good configuration" for it to load properly. Someone told me that my BIOS battery had gone flat. Is this true does anyone know? Where do I get a BIOS battery and what kind?

Thanks for contacting us today. It does sound like it is most likely the CMOS battery. You can purchase a new CMOS battery at any store. It's typically just a CR2032 battery, but I would recommend looking at the label on the battery before you go. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

CMOS battery and BIOS battery would be referring to the same thing
