Thank you for posting that Guru. I just used the manual update and it went without a hitch. M500 - 120GB.

No problems here.  The SMART data has changed where it said it would.

I would say the small file performance has taken a not insignificant hit compared to 03 and 02 but it's hard to argue against 'Numerous Bug fixes and stability improvements' for the sake of performance.  I can't believe I just said that.  I'm getting old!!!

02 and another 03: http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Solid-State-Drives-SSD/Feedback-thread-Firmware-MU03-for-the-Crucial-M50...

I ran the 05 benchmark multiple times. It didn't get any better.  All benchmarks carried out on a clean boot just after Windows 8 SSD optimise had been run on the drive.

I just bought and installed my M500 today in my laptop and I tried to update through usb boot following the instructions listed in the PDF but I get stuck at InitDisk. Is there any way to get past this?

Can Crucial please supply the firmware updates for Macs as an ubuntu dmg which can be used to make a bootable USB stick, like OWC does.

I have four M500s and to update the firmware I have to burn a CD in an external optical drive, refit the superdrive in the optical bay, update firmware, refit data-doubler in the optical bay.

I don't (yet) have any OWC SSDs but I just made a USB stick of their firmware updater to check that it really would boot my older macs, and it does.

Surely if OWC can do it, Crucial can do it.

Thanks

Where can I see the "firmware guide"?

Are there any details for the "Increased thermal throttling response" point?

I thought so :smileyhappy: However I am afraid there are no guides other than those available at the firmware download page.

Downloaded this for my 240Gb M500, when I try to update I get the message "There are no drives that need to be updated".

Current firmware on the drive is MU03.

Any suggestions please?
