crucial m4 update firmware failed

i am trying to update my ssd firmware from 040h to 070h following this proccess
http://www.crucial.com/firmware/m4/070H/Crucial_m4_Wind...
until step 9 all are ok but when i press "YES" it shows me 
"failed to prepare drive *** for update.error code 0"
i never had this problem with windows 7 but now that i have win8 i have this problem:/
Sys specs i7 950 stock speed
6gb ram kingston
x58 sabertooth Asus 6850
any ideas?

Try the manual boot cd version of the firmware.  It seems to be compatible with a wider variety of systems than the windows updaters.

In case you can boot your system with DVD disk you could use a DVD. Or you can even prepare USB pendrive using UNetbootin tool :smileyhappy:

Manual Boot CD worked just fine for me as well, although I do need to let people know that it is actually a Linux Boot CD based on ISOLinux, NOT Microsoft DOS as some people have been referring to it as, just to let you guys know. :-)
2.5 inch M4 Solid State Drive with 070H Firmware and 2.5 inch M500 Solid State Drive with MU02 Firmware.

The loader is linux based but then it enters updater's FreeDOS based environment (070H firmware).
