Can I mix RAM (Orange & Black slots)?

I have three memory modules installed in the three orange banks (three black banks are free). Each installed RAM module has the following info: Corsair Dominator DDR3, TR3X6G1866C9D, 6 GB (3x2GB) 2048 MB, 1866 MHz, 9-9-9-24 (latency), 1.65V, Ver. 4.1, 09040818.

I want to add the following kit currently sold at Amazon, so I could have a total of 18 GB of RAM in my system: Corsair Dominator 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMP12GX3M3A1600C9).

Because the Asus P6T is a X58 chipset board, which uses triple-channel memory, will adding the 12 GB of RAM to the existing 6 GB create a compatibility problem?

I'm hoping someone with experience will be able to lend me a hand.

Hi Djard,

As long as you are installing in groups of three you will not have any issue maintaining the triple channel. You may check with Corsair or your user manual if you have any other issues. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you so much for your kind response.

Sorry to ask about another brand of RAM: I thought I was at Corsair's support site (goes to show Crucial is better known to me).
