I have a nice HP dv9000 Laptop. I have read that I can only go to 2GB memory for this Laptop with a 32bit OS because the 32bit OS will only recognize up to 2GB.
A 64bit OS will recognize 4GB.
So, if I go with Windows 7 as a 64bit OS can I put 2-2GB memory sticks in for 4GB??
Thanks for any help and advise.

Unfortunately the 2GB limitation in the dv9000 is in the hardware, not in the software. You can of course install Windows 7 if you prefer, but the 2GB limit is in the motherboard, so it will remain.
I hope that clarified things.

We don't recommend going over 2GB with the dv9408nr. I would say it's lucky that it's been going to the 4GB and I would not recommend going to the 8GB.
