I have compaq presario SR5450F stock except for the Geforce 9500 gt video card and a 550w power supply
I replaced 1 of the 1 gig sticks of ram with a 2 gig stick (CT25664aa800).
On boot up windows says it has been damaged and tries to repair itself and cannot do so.
Pulled out the ram put the original back in boot computer same screen but it is able to repair and computer works fine.
Any help would be appricated

Since the computer works again if you reinstall your old modules, please try the 2GB module by itself. That will tell us if it is the part itself that is causing the issue, or if it was the combination of modules that triggered the stability issues. Please also give us the full CT part number printed on the module, as well as the outcome of the above, and we can proceed from there.

memory part # is CT5664AA800.M16FJ2. When I install it by itself everything works fine. It must be conflicting with the other ram sticks which are samsung 1 gb. So if I were purchase another of the same 2gb sticks it should work?

In theory, that is correct. Before doing this though, I would make sure that they system has the latest BIOS installed. The issue could be that the BIOS is not up to date and causing a conflict as well.
