I recently ordered a 2GB RAM kit for a Dell Dimension E510. I tried installing them both, and there was a memory error displayed on the Dell diagnostic lights on front. After taking each one out and making sure that only one RAM card was in the computer at a time, I found that one of the 1GB RAM cards (part of the 2 GB RAM kit) was defective. However, the other 1GB RAM card is just fine. When I went to the warranty thing it looks like I'd need to return the whole kit? Please let me know if I need to or not since one of them is working properly.

Based on the testing you've done I recommend that you have the parts exchanged, and our Customer Support department can take care of that for you. Please see the contact details below:

US Warranty and Returns
We do recommend that if you have bought a kit, you return a kit. This is to ensure, for systems like yours that are dual channel, that you receive another matched pair for this feature to function properly.

When you fill out the warranty request form an RMA is created for you and an email sent out within 24 hours. Just around the date you posted however, we discovered a glitch in our system that led to some customers not receiving their emails, and it looks like yours was one of them.
I apologize for any inconvenience. The glitch has now been fixed, so it won't happen again, and a copy of the email is on its way to you.
