Adding another stick of RAM

I've had a single stick of Crucial Ballistix Sport 8 GB 2666MHZ BLS8G4D26BFSE for a while and got a ram stick from a friend of mine which is the same brand Crucial Ballistix Sport 8 GB aswell but its 2400MHZ BLS8G4D240FSB and a different color. My question would be if these two can work together, because so far it hasn't worked for me.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Adding another stick of RAM

You can typically mix parts, but if a board tries to use them a dual channel setting, the system may refuse to post. You're best off ensuring the parts are installed in different colored memory slots, to make sure the board isn't trying to force them to run as a pair.
