Been getting the same smart error: current pending sector is 1 under unRAID. Just installed these two MX500's a few weeks ago and both are throwing these errors periodically. It keeps flipping back and forth between normal and errored state. My recallocated counter is still 0 on both drives. I went ahead and turned off attribute 197 to stop the false positives for now. Tried the latest firmware this evening to make sure I'm on the latest version (confirmed).

 

Hoping there will be updates to resolve this soon and wondering if I need to scrap these a go with another manufacturer.

I'm seeing the same behavior on a pair of MX500s, one recently purchased and another from about a year ago.  They are being used in a ZFS mirror pool.  As others noted, smartctl shows no re-allocated sectors even after a shutdown (it's not updated online for that property.  The pending sector value only persists for a second per syslog.  I ran extended SMART tests on both drives with zero errors.  Moreover, multiple scrubs indicated no checksum errors.  This issue seems harmless.  I don't see these issues with older M500 or MX100 drives, nor do I see it on Samsung SSDs.
