Slow performance after upgrading Dell Inspiron 3847 w/ an SSD

We cloned our HD to a Crucial 500 GB ssd and are getting maybe half the scores that other users have gotten with CrystalMark.  The hard drives are set to AHCI and we disabled Legacy OS.  Chipset and BIOS are fully updated.

Any ideas?

If you've connected it to a Sata 2 port - it will be half the speed of other benchmarks you are seeing.  Older systems will either have no, or only a couple of sata 3 ports (with the rest being 2).  So the port you connect it to matters.  A google search suggests you need to connect an SSD to the ports labelled 'HDD' and not 'ODD' in that system.  And that if the drive isnt recognised on HDD, then to replace the sata data cable.
