Does anyone know how to format a security locked crucial m550
I tried storage executive pro but it does not seem to work
can I use linux to format the drive like knoppix or something. let me know

The storage exec option you're looking to wipe a drive without a password is 'PSID Revert'

There are realistically three types of locks a drive could have.

I'm not sure why this thread was created when the same question but with more details was discussed in this thread. The final answer depends on the answer to the question asked here. If the drive had a "Master" ATA password activated, then perhaps it can still be unlocked or erased using Linux. Otherwise the SSD would need to be installed into another identical laptop (or perhaps similar model) to unlock it. If not, then there is no way to salvage the drive.
