27" iMac mid-2011 Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

Our iMac takes 1333 (error in last post) MHz DDR3 memory (we have 12Gb) - what is Solid State Drive, would that be better?  If so, what's the max I could have?  I have a 3Tb Time Capsule, but would the SSD be better ie better capacity, less errors/problems / last longer?

I'm definitely not a whizz so this may be a silly question!!

Hello Pebblet,

Thank you for your message.

First of all, there are no silly questions so don’t worry about it at all.  We have a few guides and articles about what SSD’s are and what they can do for your system.

We have a one stop section on our website that has all the information for you.  You can see it on our website here: http://uk.crucial.com/gbr/en/storage-ssd-buying-guide

I don’t want to copy the details over when the above guides will provide all the information for you.  I would recommend having a look there and if you have any specific questions about it, please don’t hesitate to ask and I would be happy to help.
