Thanks for contacting us. Unfortunately, it appears that the MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz Intel core i5 can only utilize 8GB of RAM. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

My Macbook pro 13" (late/2011 - mid 2012) had 4GB (2x4). I recently got two new Crucial Memories of 8GB (so a total of 16GB)
I read in this forum that my Macbook should support 16GB. However, after installing the new memories, it won't turn on.
It will only work with one of the old memories (2GB) plus one of the new ones (8GB). So, 10GB.
Could someone tell me why aren't the two 8GB (16GB) memories working together?

I have an 13-inch, Early 2011 MacBook Pro and I purchased an SSD and 16GB RAM form Crucial about 2 months ago. Ever since, I've been having problems. My computer crashes a lot and the fan goes on a lot.

Same here. I have a late 2011 15" MacBookPro i5 2.2Ghz
Bought 16GB kit for an upgrade following advice from crucial and amazon/crucial.
Ever since problems.. system hangs every now and then... problems with multitasking.
So maybe for light tasks it's ok, but I do a lot of heavy video rendering and it just a failure.
So 16GB kit from crucial IS NOT fully compatible with MacBook Pro '2011.
Lost 200 bucks.

Thanks for contacting us today. Have you tried each module individually yet? This would be our first tip. This will help us determine if one of the memory modules is defective or if their is a memory installation issue. It can take some pressure for new RAM to be installed in the system.

I am also facing the exact same issue.
My MBP (8.1, late 2011, 13") is not accepting 8 GB RAM (not even 4 GB) module in one slot but it does accept 2 GB module in that particular slot. I have swapped the RAM modules (and found the modules ok) but nothing worked. The other slot is absolutely fine with all modules (2, 4 or 8 GB). With this situation I can have only 10 GB of RAM at max.
Please advice how would I be able to make both 8 GBs RAM (and have 16 GB RAM) modules work on my MBP.
