Thanks for providing this information. We do recommend 1333mhz RAM for your system, but it does look like the 1600mhz upgrade you purchased is compatible with your system, as well. I would advise trying to reinstall the RAM, especially the top module. If you still have issues, you might reach out to the vendor and swap it for the 1333mhz RAM. The part number for that is CT2K8G3S1339M.

Crucial's Mac scanner (ID below) suggests that I can go upto 16gb RAM. But they didn't mention the Ballistix models - will they not work on my Macbook Pro?
Apple MacBook Pro (13-inch and 15-inch, Mid 2012)

Thanks for contacting us today. We would be happy to help you find the correct memory for your system. It appears that your system can only be upgraded to 16GB of memory. The correct part number would be CT2K8G3S160BM or CT2KIT102464BF160B. Both of these upgrades are dual voltage.
This would mean that they would run at 1.35v if the system allows it, but would run at 1.5v if necessary. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi there, I have a mid-2012 MBP, 13", with 2.5GHz Intel Core i5 Processor. It came with 4 GB RAM. I am planning to upgrade it to 16 GB. However, the scanner lists the model that is not available in my country. Please can you check and let me know if this will work instead - http://goo.gl/ak7qrm

Thanks for reverting. I had contacted Crucial a couple of days back and was advised that this one would not be compatible. Please could you have another look and let me know if it is indeed compatible as it might save me a few hundred bucks. My scanner ID is 4ADE0C6531D926C3.
The one I am told would work is - http://goo.gl/9W4vYW

The RAM will definitely work. it's the generic upgrade we sell mostly for PC laptops, but the specs match and we use to sell it for your system before the Mac specific parts came out. I am sorry for the confusion.
