Adding DDR2 ram

Hello:

I'm hoping that the collective brainpower of this group can help.

I'm currently using 2 crucial 1gb memory modules CT12864AA80E.16FD (old) on an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe System. Work a ok

I ran the scanner utilty and ordered the recommended "CT12864AA800.M8FJ3" (new) will not work

First I confirmed that the old ram work in either set of sockets on my mb,  I removed the older ram. The new ram doesn't work in either set of socket on the mb. Is it possible that that I got two defective sticks of memory?

Any insights would be appreciated.

Turns out one of the memory modules was defective. The other posted fine in the BIOS. Currently running 3gb of ddr2.

A replacement memory module is on the way!
