DDR2 PC2-5300 Vs DDR2 PC2-5300S

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could help answer my question.

I have a laptop at home that takes DDR2 PC2-5300 ram. It currently has 1gig, using 1 slot. I would like to upgrade this ram and to do so I was just given 2x1gig of DDR2 PC2-5300S. Can I put DDR2 PC2-5300S in a machine that takes DDR2 PC2-5300 and if so, is there any real difference between the ram types?

Thanks

If it is compatible then yes you can use it.

You may need to update your BIOS first, but maybe not so try it as is and see how things go.

The "S" just means it is a SODIMM, meaning for a laptop is all.
