I did a scan and it told me Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. heres the url of the scan results
it says I have 2 1GB DDR2 PC2-6400 installed.
it picked out 2 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 for me to put in my cart, but couldn't I put 6400s in or are my 2 free slots only take 5300, if I can wouldn't it be better to have them all the same or not?
also about placement, in my computer the 4 memory slots from left to right, theres 2 slots the a group, then a space then 2 more slots in a group.
well the 2 1GBs in there are in the 1st and 3rd slots (first slot in both groups), and when I put new ram in should I put them in the 2nd and 4th slots? because I thought I needed to do them in pairs, and I thought that meant in the same group. I dunno though
I'll post a pic in a minute to show.

If your current memory is 6400 I would also buy new 6400, keep in mind mixing memory does not always have a good outcome though so you may need to use only new memory or buy 4x1GB new, or a 2x2GB kit (Kinda looks like that might not work though from what the scanner says)
If you install more 1GB modules you would use slots 2+4, that is how the slots are paired (1+3 and 2+4)

Alright, good luck with the install, and let us know how things go once your new memory arrives!
