Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop

I am upgrading my Dell XPS m1730 from 4GB DDR PC2-6400 to 8GB DDR PC2-6400.As I will be removing the 2X 2GB of DDR PC2-6400 that is currently installed would it be possible to fit this to my other laptop which is a Dell Inspiron 6400 ?

The Inspiron currently has DDR PC2-5300 memory installed.Would the PC2-6400 memory work ?

We only recommend PC2-5300 for the Inspiron 6400.  More importantly, it can only support a maximum of 2GB (1GB per slot) so you will unfortunately not be able to use the 2GB modules in this system.
