Inspiron 6000 on Windows 7, install new crucial memory = lose my sound device

Can anyone please explain how I can upgrade my memory with this new 1GB chip and keep my sound?

If not, I need to return this memory. My sound is just as important as my memory (for my uses).

Thank you in advance.

btw, just to give some more info...

sound works fine now. i installed windows 7 last week, sound was fine.at that point i had 1 512 and 1 gb of memory

bought a 1gb from crucial

installed it today.

sound immediately stopped working

i updated every driver i could, troubleshooted everything i could, no luck.

then i put back in my old 512.

sound immediately started working again.

I was wrong. Now its saying "No audio output device is installed" again.

How strange.

I guess I will figure out the sudio thing first, then put the crucial memory back.

ugh. i thought computers were supposed to make life easier.
