I bought a new (December 2010) macbook as a gift for someone and want to increase RAM to 4gb. The memory advisor shows four different variants for the 2.4ghz macbook. Two are DDR2 ("black" and "white") and two are DDR3 (MB467ZP/A and MB467LL/A). I can tell I need DDR3 because I took a look at one of the sticks of existing memory (it says "1GB 1R8 PC3-8500D-07-10-ZZZ".) How do I tell which variant of DDR3 (MB467ZP/A or MB467LL/A) to choose?
I did some more looking around. I guess "white" and "black" used in the memory advisor tool refer to the pre-unibody designs while the more recent unibody ones are just designated as MB467LL/A (mine) or MB467zp/a. The site below helped me figure out which one was correct (it is hoped) for my macbook. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/index-macbook.html
