Re: Mac OS X Fails to Install on New SSD

Thank you for the help, Alex.

I bought an external USB enclosure and my old HDD booted up fine. I think that pretty much confirms the faulty SATA cable.

I know this is more an Apple question now, but can anyone confirm that this is what I need?

**** with the newer ones supporting Sata III and PCIE interfaces

I love the way you add a small piece of truth (or half truth) to your posts to make them seem almost plausible.

You might need to be careful. Doing a search on that part number of the ome in that amazon link, finds it is for the 2009 15 inch MBP only.

I'm sure you said your MBP was 2012 and you didn't mention, but was it mid 2012 15 inch?

Or was it 13 inch? In either case, I don’t think that’s the correct cable.

What I would suggest you do is start here on www.ifixit.com and select your model:

Then find the correct cable. You can search for the same Apple part number elsewhere if you prefer.
