Try to check the storage driver version and if it is not 12.8.0.1016 install 12.8.0.1016.

Is the W7 factory installed (with all the factory drivers) or did you install it by yourself? Clevo lists bunch of drivers for this model but I think I would check current storage driver and start with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver 12.8.0.1016.

Hi, the drivers from that post are storage controller drivers rather than device drivers. You can check driver version anytime with Device manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers -> right click on the selected controller -> Properties -> Driver tab Is it Windows 8.1 system? I believe in your system you should be using this one ( 12.8.0.1016) - http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftpout_download.asp?sno=6571&no=3 Were you able to create partitions at all (either with Acronis od windows disk management)? Also it is possible this laptop has two Mini Card slots -1st for WLAN Combo -2nd for mSATA SSD. Just check to be sure that you have used the proper one :-)

I think that good starting point would be to check SMART attributes values of the drive. You can post this data from CrystalDiskInfo (with "Edit"->"Copy" option) just please hide drive's serial number. Did you change anything in your system recently? A typical set of other questions would be: - what is the exact system or motherboard model the SSD is used in? - have you tried it in another system? - what is the operating system you use? - have you tried different SATA cables and/or SATA ports? - what BIOS SATA mode are you using (IDE/ AHCI/ RAID)?

Numrollen, did you have problems before firmware update? When did the problems first occur? Could you please check system event viewer if there are any errors logged time related to your freezes - for example this one: \Device\Ide\iaStor0 did not respond within the timeout period (error code 9) Are both of your M4s in the same system? What is the exact model of your motherboard? What is BIOS mode for this M4 (IDE/ AHCI/ RAID)? Maybe the problems are related to (improper) storage driver installed in the system. Do you know what driver is installed in your system? You can check it with Device manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers -> right click on the selected controller -> Properties -> Driver tab Of course it is possible I think that your issues are related to the errors recorded by your drive - my M4 shows 0 value for both AB and CE attributes.

To be honest I didn't have to do installation this particular way before, I would just try to copy driver files onto the same USB pendrive but you may be right it could be necessary to do with with second USB pendrive. I don't know. Alternatively you could probably use DVD as a install media and USB pendrive for the drivers. I would avoid changing any default settings or making USB pendrives read-only.

I am not sure what is the issue. Did you try any of the drivers I listed or did you get 0x80300001 error installing W7 without 11.7.0.1013 or 11.7.4.1001 driver? Also why did you mention your USB drive is read only? Why is it read only? I believe that this error can indicate issues with the storage driver or install media. Usually I use Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool and I would just copy driver files onto the same USB pendrive.

Was your C400 working fine before? Do you know what is the firmware version on this drive? Older versions 0001, 0002, or 0009 can cause the C400 drive to become unresponsive after 5184 hours of power-on time and can make other issues with the drive. In that case firmware update would be recommended. As for the procedure from this thread it says about connecting power cable and SATA cable separately so probably it will not work with USB case. The official power cycle procedure suggested by Crucial is described here.

Did you try to use AHCI driver from Asus site? http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/sata/AMD_AHCI_Win8_1_VER130010156.zip You can unzip the content of the archive to USB pendrive and use the files at the begining of W8.1 setup. Check ReadMe file for details.

You cannot use any security features formerly supported by the drive - you cannot secure erase it and you cannot protect it with BIOS/ATA password.

I would say that either 11.7.0.1013 or 11.7.4.1001 should work for this system... Edit: Leerzeichen, do you know what version did you use with Crucial SSD? As far as I can see BitLocker is available in Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8 Enterprise.

I guess that for the past two weeks you have propbably tried everything that user could try anyway. I am not Mac user but I would check for EFI/SMC updates for your Mac (you didn't mention that step in your description) - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1237 Also I thnk that some users were refering to EFI/SMC reset? I am not sure about that but there was some kind of reset and I think it was related to EFI/SMC.

It has a RAID in its name but it works with both modes AHCI and RAID. If you will be able to install it without any strange popups or warnings then I would probably say that that particular version is compatible with your hardware and it should work well.

It may be necessary to have possibly most current BIOS, did you check for BIOS update for your laptop? Is the SATA controller set to AHCI in the BIOS? Also I would try to load storage driver (with "Load Driver" button) at the "Where do you want to install Windows?" screen. Could you please check two drivers for me? - for the first try it is 11.7.0.1013 that can be downloaded directly from Intel, then if that one would fail - for the second try it is 11.7.4.1001 that can be downloaded from mirror site You download the file, unzip the archive and copy all following files to the USB pendrive: iaAHCIC.cat iaAHCIC.inf iaStorA.sys iaStorAC.cat iaStorAC.inf iaStorF.sys You should be able to browse for that files at the begining of installation.
